To apply for Group B and Group C posts through the SSC CGL 2025 exam, candidates must fulfill specific eligibility conditions. The SSC CGL Eligibility Criteria 2025 are based on the following factors:

SSC CGL Eligibility Criteria Educational Qualification

To apply for the SSC CGL Exam, the candidate must be a Graduate from a recognised University/ Institution. However, specific posts may have additional SSC CGL Eligibility educational requirements as discussed below:

Junior Statistical Officer (JSO)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in any subject from a recognized University or Institute with at least 60% Marks in Mathematics at 12th standard level

(or)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with Statistics as one of the subjects at degree level.
Assistant Audit Officer/ Assistant Accounts Officer (AAO) Desirable Qualification: Any one of these

  • Chartered Accountant
  • Cost & Management Accountant
  • Company Secretary
  • Masters in Commerce
  • Masters in Business Studies
  • Masters in Business Administration (Finance)
  • Masters in Business Economics.

Essential Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in any subject from a recognized University

Statistical Investigator Grade-II
  • Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with Statistics as one of the subjects from a recognized University or Institute. The candidates must have studied Statistics as a subject in all 3 years of the graduation course.
Assistant in National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT)
  • Essential Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University or Institute
  • Desirable Qualifications: Degree in law from a recognized university.
Research Assistant in National Human Rights Commission (NHRC)
  • Essential Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University or Institute
  • Desirable Qualifications:
    • Minimum one-year research experience in any recognized university (or) recognized
    • Research Institution Degree in Law or Human Rights from a recognized university.
Other Post Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a recognized University or equivalent

SSC CGL Eligibility Criteria Nationality

For SSC CGL Eligibility, a candidate must be:

  1. An Indian citizen, or
  2. A subject of Nepal or Bhutan, or
  3. A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia), or Vietnam with the intention of permanent settlement in India.

Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (B) and (C) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.

SSC CGL Physical Eligibility Criteria

Certain positions, such as Inspector (Central Excise/Examiner/Preventive Officer), Inspector & Sub-Inspector in Central Bureau of Narcotics (CBN), Sub-Inspector in Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), National Investigation Agency (NIA), and Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), require candidates to meet specific physical standards and pass physical efficiency tests. These standards typically include parameters like height, chest measurements, and physical endurance tasks. 

SSC CGL Eligibility Criteria for People With Disabilities

People With Disabilities (PwDs) are eligible to appear for the SSC CGL exam with special eligibility criteria. Candidates must have 40% or more disability to be eligible to come under persons with disability. They are provided with certain relaxations in the criteria set by SSC. The applicant must attach the disability certificate issued by the Medical Board along with the application form.
